Mixed Media Canvas Love Valentine

Welcome back for the new challenge, my dear blog friends. This week, let's share your favorite tool with us. At Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, our challenge theme is "YOUR FAVORITE TOOL". I created a mixed media canvas with my all time favorite tools:  Faber Castell Gelatos Tool Set for creating the background texture, and Clearsnap Art Daubers for distressing.



I've used the Faber-Castell Gelatos Tool Set for years and still love all the tools in this set. To create the texture on the background of this mini canvas, I used the palette knife to apply Modeling Paste over Tim Holtz Layering Stencil. The Dot Dabbers and Blending Chisel in this set are great to distress some small areas like the embellishments and the edges of the canvas. I also love to use Clearsnap Art Dauber to make the distress effect.



The Stipple Brush is the best tool to create the splatters. On my canvas, I simply loaded the brush with Gesso and water mixture and flicked it across my index finger to create this effect. I also use Drip Dropper in this tool set to make the paint splatter.

Mixed Media Tag Heart

Hello, my crafty friends, I hope you all had a great weekend. This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, our theme is "YOUNG AT HEART". You can use hearts on your project or interpret this theme as being young and adventurous or daring. 

It is also the first Monday of the February so we showcase our  Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products. You can check out the latest ‘Hey Love’ release here, its full of ‘love-ly’ stamps, dies, stencils and more. Our Guest Designer is Nicola  aka Paper Profusion this month. She is an amazing artist. Make sure to check out her fabulous artworks. 

For the project this week, I was inspired to create a mixed media tag with die cut hearts using Simon Says Stamp Sketched Hearts Wafer Die, and Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Valentine for the texture on the background.

I first applied some modeling paste on the tag with palette knife to make the texture and colored it with Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. Some Tim Holtz text print tapes were pasted, then I stenciled the Valentine sentiments using Tim Holtz Layering stencil and the modeling paste that was mixed with red Distress Paint. 

On a red cardstock, I die cut the hearts using Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Sketched Heart and Big Shot machine. The hearts were attached on the tag using Tombow Mono Glue and foam tape. 

I attached the flower and metal embellishments on the tag. The hello sentiment were die cut using Simon Says Stamp Handlettered Greeting Wafer die. The edges of the tag were distressed using the Art Dauber and Simon Says Stamp black ink pad. Some Gesso and water mixture was splattered on the tag as the final touch.
