Mixed Media Tag Spring Mood Board

Hi, my lovely crafty friends, I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, our challenge theme is "Spring Mood Board". The lovely Macarena has made this gorgeous mood board for our inspiration!

As you may know, the  Simon Says Stamp Store is accepting new orders, but have longer shipping times for the moment due to the coronavirus. With this in mind we have made the difficult decision to suspend the $50 voucher for this challenge. We know that many people are staying safe at home and we would love it if you would continue to enter the challenges and have fun! We are all in this together!

It is Ann’s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your creations over the past month. It has been a real pleasure to have you along with us :-)

I was inspired to create a mixed media tag using Prima Marketing Sweet Confection Dulce Flowers to decorate it and Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Theories Quote Chips and Specimen Remnant Rubs for the sentiments.

To start this project, I applied Distress Paints on this size 8 tag. The background of the tag was stamped with Finnabair Clear Stamps and Distress Ink Pads. I arranged some Prima Flowers and adhered them on the tag using Prima Heavy Gel.

Some sentiments were added with Tim Holtz Theories Quote Chips and Idea-Ology Specimen Remnant Rubs. The butterfly and metal key were attached on the tag.

I really love the inspiration from the mood board for the faded jeans colors and the text print on the background, the key embellishment and the beautiful spring flowers and butterfly on this tag. Hope you like my project and got inspired to create yours. Happy crafting!

Mixed Media Tag Steampunk Adventure

Hello, my friends, welcome back for the new challenge! This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge our theme is "STEAMPUNK". The definition of steampunk is: a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.

I was inspired to create a mixed media tag using Brutus Monroe Steampunk Clear Stamp and embellished it with Prima Marketing Machine Parts Finnabair Mechanicals and Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Quotations Metallic Stickers.

I started this project with cutting the recycled corrugated cardboard into a size 8 tag and colored it with Distress Paints. I heat embossed the colored background using the clear embossing powder for the metal texture.

On a piece of watercolor paper, I stamped the steampunk girl and other images. The images were colored using Daniel Smith watercolors then applied a layer of Tim Holtz Distress Micro Glaze for a glazed finish.

I layered these cut images and some metal gears and embellishments and used heavy gel to adhered them on the tag. Some sentiments were added with Tim Holtz Quotation Stickers. I distressed and outlined the images, metal embellishments and edges of the tag using a black pen to finish off this project.
