Holiday Cards

Hey, my dear crafty friends, hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend. I had a great time with my family on Thanksgiving day, and got some crafty haul on Black Friday. For more holiday fun, we are making holiday cards this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Whether it is homemade cards, gift tags, or gift wrap there is a lot of making and giving this time of year!

I created two simple cards with stamped images as the sample for my children to make some holiday cards for their teachers.

My children want to make some fun and colorful holiday cards for their teacher so I created these two cards as the sample. The image on the first card was stamped with Tim Holtz Gingerbread House Sketch Stamp, and colored with Distressed Markers and Ranger Stickles Glitter Glue.

For my second card, I stamped the image with Memento black ink and Tim Holtz Type Chart stamp, and splattered the watercolor with Aquash Brush on the image. Both of these cards were distressed using Distress Inks and Art Daubers.

The sentiments were stamped using Tim Holtz Simple Saying Stamps and Memento Black ink.

These two cards are so fun and easy to make. And my children love them.
I hope you like them and get a chance to make some holiday cards for your loved ones.

Mixed Media Christmas Tree Wall Hanging

Hi, everyone, Meihsia here today to share a tutorial of mixed media Christmas tree wall hanging for this holiday season. I've always loved fun and vibrant colors on my mixed media projects so this week, I decide to make a colorful mixed media Christmas tree to hang on my wall.

To start this project, I apply a layer of Heavy Gesso using a paint brush on the 12" chipboard Christmas tree.

Tear some strips of patterned paper from Tim Holtz Paper Stash Seasonal and adhere these strips on the background of the Christmas tree using Heavy Gesso.

Add some textures with Tim Holtz Layering Stencils and Modeling Paste using a palette knife.

Arrange Tim Holtz Countdown Coins from 1 to 25 and adhere the coins on the tree with heavy structure gel. Use a Needle Tool to pierce holes to place the Fasteners to secure the Ornate Plate and baubles.

Apply Distress Stain around the edges of the Christmas tree to show the texture and dimension on the background.

Dab Distress Paint on the stenciled image and dry the background with a heat tool.

Rub a layer of Heavy Gesso on the Countdown Coins with fingers.

After the Gesso is dry, apply various Distress Paints on these coins. Dry the coin before applying another color of Distress Paint on it with a heat tool.

Add a final touch with some Distress Stain metallic shades randomly on the embellishments and background.

Now this mixed media Christmas tree is finished and ready to hang on the wall for the holiday.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and got inspired to create something fun and beautiful for your holiday.

Happy crafting!

Mixed Media Canvas to the Moon

Hello, everyone, if you’ve always wanted to go to the moon, love all celestial things, want to be a space explorer, or perhaps just like stars on your craft projects, this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, we want to see how you’re inspired by the universe, galaxy, or anything else out of this world.

For this week's challenge, I created a mixed media canvas with the moon and stars.

I just received my new Prima Flowers Modeling Paste and Gesso, and thought they would be perfect to create textures for this project.

I covered the background of this cavas with Heavy Gesso and the edges with Texture Paste White Sand.

The moon and stars were die cut using Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Crescent Moon & Stars.

The Prima Flowers Resin and Junkyard Findings were attached using Gel Glue on the canvas. I also had some Tim Holtz rub on images and sentiment on the embellishments.

Hope you enjoyed my project and got inspired to create some project using these great products.
