I Just Love this - Art Journal

Hi, all, how's your weekend? It's a long weekend and the weather was cool here in Dallas. I managed to clean up my craft room, shop and replace some furniture. Now I am very happy with my bigger and neater work space.

For the challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week, we want you to get out your artsy stamps and play. It might be a background, a hand-drawn image, a sketchy texture stamp, or a special saying.

I enjoyed the creative process of stamping and coloring with two artsy stamps.

I believe that happiness is simple and life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful.

So on my art journal pages this week, I stamped Tim Holtz Cling Stamp Way with Words since I just love that saying. The background map was stamped using Prima Flower Cartographer Cling Stamp.

There is another artsy stamp - Prima Flower Paige Bloom Girl was colored with Loew Cornell watercolor and adhered with Prima Flowers and Prima metal embellishments on this art journal page.

I added some lace and buttons embellishments on the page for more textures.

Botanical Bliss

Our talented DT member Suzanne, from Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, challenges us to have the botanical theme on our project. Will you used some botanical patterns from Tim Holtz, butterflies floating around the warm spring sunshine, or flowers that just waiting to bloom? Find your botanical bliss and join us!

I was inspired by a picture of my children in the park this week and created these art journal pages.

It is the best time to play ourdoors now. Natalie and Christopher love to ride a bike, fly a kite or run in the park.

On these journal pages, I created the watercolor effect on the background using Izink inks and Gelatos.

I randomly added some Tim Holtz Life Quotes Rub Ons on the background and on the Prima Flowers wood embellishments.

There are Simon Says Stamp Berkshire Leaf Borders around the beautiful Prima Flowers.

Children always love to chase butterflies so I stamped lots of butterflies on these pages using Hero Arts Stamp Butterfly and Colorbox Paintbox Ink.

M is for Mixed Media Art Journal - Rainy Day

M is for ___ - So what will you create? M could stand for the month of May, mist, markers, magenta, mowed lawn, metal, millinery, a masculine project, mounted stamps….

M is for Mixed Media - this is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this week's challenge theme.

I love to sit by the window and watch the raindrops falling through the window. Especially in spring, I also love to listen to the sound of the rain on the roof. Inspired by the rainy day, I created these mixed media art journal pages this week.

To create the background patterns on these pages, I sprayed Color Shine over the mini bricks stencil. The watercolor effect was created with Izink inks and water mixture. It's fun to see the ink mixture running on the paper just like raindrops falling throung the window.

To create the two buildings with windows, I pasted the crinkled wrapping paper on one piece of grunge paper and the decorative trim on another piece of grunge paper.

These panels were colored with Alcohol Inks and covered with crackled paints.

The edges of these two pages were stamped with Tim Holtz Cling Rubber Stamp and distressed with Colorbox Melon Blends by Eileen Hull.
